# How do I add a player who is under 13?
## Put the player on your roster and invite their parent to follow the team for them.
A player under 13 goes on your Football Play Card roster **without an account of their own**. Instead, you invite their parent or guardian to follow the team for them. The parent sees the schedule, answers the player's RSVPs and takes the player's quizzes, and the player keeps their spot on your roster and depth chart.
### How do I add a player on an Under 13 team?
1. Select **My Team** and open the **Roster** tab.
2. Select **+ Add Player**.
3. Enter the player's **First Name** and **Last Name**. **Positions** and **Jersey #** are optional.
4. Under **Parent or guardian**, enter the **Parent Email**.
5. Select **Add & Invite Parent**.
There is no player email on this form, because a player under 13 never gets an account. The parent email is optional. Leave it empty and the button reads **Add to Roster**, which adds the player with no email sent. You can add the parent later.
*On an Under 13 team there is no player email, only the parent's.*
### How do I add a parent later?
A player under 13 with no parent yet shows **Add parent** on their roster row. If you cannot send invites on this team, the row shows **Needs parent** instead. Ask a coach who can to add the parent.
1. Select **Add parent** on the player's row. You can also open the row's menu and select **Add parent email**.
2. Enter the **Parent Email**.
3. Select **Invite Parent**.
Once you add a parent, the row shows **Parent Invited**, and **Parent Linked** once the parent accepts. To see who the parent is, open the player and look under **Linked Followers**.
*Rows that still need a parent show Add parent. Once a parent is invited the row shows Parent Invited, then Parent Linked.*
### How do I add a player under 13 to a 13-18 team?
1. Select **+ Invite Player** as usual and enter the player's name.
2. Tick **This player is under 13**.
3. Enter the **Parent Email** in the **Parent or guardian** card that appears in place of the invite.
4. Select **Add & Invite Parent**.
That one player is treated as under 13. The rest of your team is invited to the app as usual.
*Ticking This player is under 13 swaps the player invite for the parent's.*
### Frequently Asked Questions
### What does the parent get?
The parent gets an email inviting them to follow your team. Once they accept, they are that player's **Parent/Guardian**. They can:
- see the team schedule and get event emails and reminders for their player
- answer their player's RSVP for each event
- take the quizzes you assign their player
- The parent does not need their own subscription. Adding a parent works on every plan. The schedule and quizzes the parent uses are part of State Champion and above, the same as for the rest of your team. If the parent already follows your team, the player is linked to them and no second invite goes out. Let the parent know an email from Football Play Card is on its way, so they look out for it.
### What if a player I invited turns out to be under 13?
- Every player who accepts an invite is asked their birth month and year first. If the answer is under 13, no account is made, and an account they already had is deleted. The invite is withdrawn and the player stays on your roster without an account, with their name, number and positions, and their row shows **Add parent**.
- You are not sent an email when this happens, so check your roster for **Add parent** after you send invites.
### Is there anything a player without an account cannot do?
- A player without an account cannot sign in, so they are not in the team chat, they do not appear when someone types @ to mention a person, and they cannot be picked as a scorekeeper or referee. Their parent does all of the player's RSVPs and quizzes for them.
### Can a player under 13 have an account if their parent agrees?
- No. Football Play Card does not give an account to any player under 13. The parent account is how the player takes part.
