# How do I use the event chat?
## One thread per event, so game-day messages stay in one place.
Every event has its own chat thread. It is where a coach posts what the team needs to know about that practice or game, and everyone invited to the event can read it.
**Coaches post in an event thread, and everyone invited reads it.** On the website, once the event starts, invited players, parents and family can also add a photo or video with a caption, but not text on its own. If they need to say something else, they post in the Team channel instead. That keeps a game thread a place for information rather than a running commentary on the game.
### How do I post in an event chat?
1. Open the event on the schedule.
2. Select the **Discussion** tab.
3. Type your message and select **Send**.
Invited players, parents and family post a photo or video instead, on the website, once the event starts. Select the photo or video button under the message box, add a caption if you like, and select **Send**. Until the event starts, the thread reads **You can post photos and videos here once the event starts.**
The thread opens on the newest message, so you see what you missed first.

### Can I share a photo or video in the chat?
- Yes. Coaches can share a clip at any time, and a photo on the website. On the website, once the event starts, invited players, parents and family can share a photo or a clip too. A message carries one photo or one clip, with a caption if you like, and you can tag the players in a clip. Deleting the message gives the storage back.
### What is the card that appears when the event changes?
- When a coach changes an event and chooses to tell the team, a card is posted in the chat naming the date and what changed about it. Nobody has to reread the whole event to work out what moved. If the coach picks **Save without telling the team**, no card is posted.
### Is there a separate coaches channel?
- Yes. Each event's chat has a **Coaches** tab beside **Team**, for staff talk. Players and families never see it. You can share a clip there too, and a photo on the website.
