# How do I Print Play Wristbands (Wrist Coach Inserts)?
## Print play diagrams, or up to 50 play names on a card.
Play wristbands are also called wrist coaches, wristcoaches, or arm bands. The printed sheet that slides into each wristband window is called an insert. Football Play Card prints those inserts for you in two ways: a **Wristband** prints play diagrams, and a **Play List Wristband** prints play names only, so far more plays fit on a card.
### How do I print play diagrams on a wristband?
1. Select **Plays** in the side menu and open the folder that holds your plays.
2. Select the plays you want on the wristband. To take every play in the folder, use **Select plays**. If you select nothing, Print uses every play in the open folder.
3. Select **Print** at the right end of the toolbar. On a phone, tap the three dots at the bottom of the screen, then **Print**. You can print up to 100 plays at a time.
4. Choose **Wristband** as the print type.
5. Choose your **Card Size** and **Plays per Card**.
6. Select **Print**, then use your printer settings to print or choose **Save as PDF**.
### Which settings should I check before printing a diagram wristband?
The settings are on the left of the Print page, and the preview on the right updates as you change them.
- **Card Size:** Match the wristband you are printing for. Football Play Card sells Youth, Teen and Adult wristbands, and each has a matching size, along with Square. If you bought your wristbands somewhere else, choose **Custom** and enter the width and height of your insert window.
- **Plays per Card:** How many plays print on each card. It changes to the best fit whenever you change Card Size. Choose **Custom** to set your own columns and rows.
- **Call Sheet Type:** Leave it on **None** to print only wristband cards. The other choices add full page call sheet or playbook pages after the cards.
- **Wristband Header:** Choose how each play's number and name show on the card, including the font size, name format and colors.
### How do I print a play list wristband (names only)?
A **Play List Wristband** prints your chosen plays as a list of play names instead of diagrams, so you can fit far more plays on one wrist coach insert. Use it when you want the whole call list on your wrist and you already know the plays by name. The # column shows each play's Play Card Number, so a play with no number is blank there.
4. Choose **Play List Wristband** as the print type.
5. **Plays per wristband** starts at 12. Set it to the number of plays you want on one card.
6. Set **Columns** to 1 or 2.
7. Select **Print**, then use your printer settings to print or choose **Save as PDF**.
*A play list wristband prints numbered play names instead of diagrams.*
### How do I fit more plays on one wristband?
**Columns** is the setting that decides how many plays a card can hold.
1. Set **Columns** to 2. The card lays out two side by side lists, filling the left column top to bottom before it starts the right.
2. Open **Plays per wristband**. At one column you can choose up to 30. At two columns you can choose up to **50**.
3. Pick your number. Every play you selected still prints. If your selection is larger than the number you set, it carries onto as many cards as it takes.
Dropping back to 1 column brings a count above 30 down with it, so the two settings can never disagree. On an Adult card all 50 fit on one card at two columns. On a Teen or Square card 46 fit, and on a Youth card 42, so the last few carry to a second card.
*Fewer plays per wristband leaves room for full names: at 15 per card, 50 plays print across four cards.*
*At 1 column the count drops to 30, and the other 20 carry onto a second card.*
### How do I change the text size on a play list wristband?
By default the text sizes itself to fill the card, which is what you want on a wristband you read at a glance mid-play.
1. In the print options, find **Font size**.
2. Leave it on **Auto (fit to card)** to let the play names grow as large as the card allows.
3. To lock a size instead, choose one of the fixed point sizes.
A fixed size cannot shrink to make room, so a large size with a high play count means fewer rows per card and the rest carry over. If you want everything on one card, leave **Font size** on **Auto (fit to card)**.
*Leave Font size on Auto (fit to card) to let the names fill the card.*
### Tips for play list wristbands
- Each play name prints on a single line. A name too long for its column ends in three dots rather than wrapping, because a wrapped name would push the play below it off the card. Short call names print best.
- Cards stack down the page so you can cut them apart as a strip.
- Set **Number of copies** if you need a card for every coach and player.
- Turn on **Shade alternate rows** to make each line easier to follow across a full card.
- To print something other than the play name, set **Name from** to Display Text 1, 2 or 3.

### Frequently Asked Questions
### How many plays fit on a play list wristband card?
- It depends on the card size and the number of columns. These are the most that fit with Font size on Auto (fit to card). Any extra plays carry onto the next card.
| **Card size** | **1 column** | **2 columns** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Adult | 30 | 50 |
| Teen or Square | 23 | 46 |
| Youth | 21 | 42 |
- A wristband holds one card per window, so a three window wristband carries three cards.
