[Team Chat](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/team-chat?hsLang=en) October 30, 2026 # What is team chat, and who can see it? ## One conversation for the season, and a private one for your staff. Team chat is your team's conversation for the whole season, inside Football Play Card. Uniform changes, fundraiser deadlines, equipment handoffs and "practice moved to the turf field" all have a home your whole team can see, instead of a group text you cannot keep track of. ### How do I open team chat? Select **Chat** in the side menu. Coaches can also open it from the **Chat** tab in **My Team**. ![Team chat on a tablet. A left rail lists the Team and Coaches channels above an Event threads section with an Upcoming and All filter, showing a Practice and two games. The thread pane shows the Team channel, subtitled Coaches, Players, Parents & Guardians, with an announcements bar and three announcements, each carrying an event link card and a seen-by count.](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge-Base/Fall-2026-Release/kb17-1-team-chat-tablet.webp?width=670&height=455&name=kb17-1-team-chat-tablet.webp) *Team chat on a tablet. The rail keeps every event thread beside the two channels.* ### Where does each conversation happen? | **Channel** | **Who reads it** | **Who posts** | | --- | --- | --- | | **Team** | Your coaches, your players and the parents you have given access to. On a computer or tablet, the channel names its own audience under the title. | Everyone who can read it, in words, or with a photo on the website. This is the team's conversation. | | **Coaches** | Your staff only. Players and parents cannot see it exists. | Your staff | | **Each event's thread** | Whoever was invited to that event | **Coaches post anything.** Once the event starts, invited players, parents and family can post a photo or video on the website. | That last row is the one worth knowing. An event thread is how you tell the people at that practice or game what they need to know, so everyone invited reads it and coaches write in it. On the website, once the event starts, invited players, parents and family can add a photo or video with a caption, but not text on its own. Anything else a player or parent wants to say goes in the Team channel.   ### Frequently Asked Questions ### Who can see the team channel? - By default the Team channel is open to your **coaches**, your **players**, and any **Parents & Guardians** you have invited. You can add **Family & Friends** as well. - Someone invited as a **Fan** never reaches the team chat. That is not a setting you can change. It is how the Fan tier works. A Fan follows your schedule and nothing more. - See "[How do I choose who can see the team chat?](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/how-do-i-choose-who-sees-team-chat?hsLang=en)" to change any of this. ### Where do game-day messages go? - Each event on your schedule has its own chat thread, listed in the left rail underneath the two channels. That is where you post what your team needs to know about that practice or game. - **Coaches post in an event thread, and everyone invited reads it.** On the website, once the event starts, invited players, parents and family can also add a photo or video with a caption. A player or a parent who wants to say "running ten minutes late" posts it in the Team channel. See "[How do I find an event's chat?](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/how-do-i-find-an-events-chat?hsLang=en)" ### Can we share photos in team chat? - Yes, on the website. Anyone who can post in the **Team** channel can add a photo to a message, and coaches can in the **Coaches** channel too. Select **Photo** under the message box. - Everyone reading the channel on the website sees it and can open it full size. There is no extra plan for photos and no setting to turn them off. - Videos are not part of team chat; they go in an event's chat. ### Which plans include team chat? - Team chat is included with **State Champion** and above, the same as the team schedule. - [FAQs](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/faqs?hsLang=en) - [Team Types](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/team-types?hsLang=en) - [Account & Billing](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/account-billing?hsLang=en) - [Getting started](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/getting-started?hsLang=en) - [My Team](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/my-team?hsLang=en) - [Building Plays](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/building-plays?hsLang=en) - [Player Quizzes](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/player-quizzes?hsLang=en) - [Mobile App](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/mobile-app?hsLang=en) - [Team Chat](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/team-chat?hsLang=en) - [Schedule](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/schedule?hsLang=en) - [Team Age & Under 13](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/team-age-under-13?hsLang=en) - [Parents & Followers](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/parents-followers?hsLang=en) [![](https://knowledge.footballplaycard.com/hubfs/Logos/Football%20Play%20Card%20Logo%20with%20Name%20Black.svg)](https://footballplaycard.com?hsLang=en) Copyright © 2013 - 2026, Championship App Development, LLC.
