# Why am I asked for my birth month and year?
## A one-time question when you accept an invite to play on a team.
When you accept an invite to play on a team, Football Play Card asks for your **birth month and year** before your account is made. Players under 13 cannot have their own Football Play Card account, and this question is how the app checks.

### When am I asked?
Once, when you accept a player invite from your coach. The screen reads **When were you born?** with a **Birth Month** and a **Birth Year**.
1. Open the invite link from your coach's email.
2. Choose your **Birth Month** and **Birth Year**.
3. Select **Continue**.
- Coaches and followers are not asked. Only players are.
### Does Football Play Card keep my birth date?
- No. Football Play Card keeps only that you passed the check, and when. Your birth month and year are not saved.
### What happens if I am 13 or older?
- You carry on, finish setting up your account and join the team. Because the app asks only for the month and year, it counts you as 13 once the month of your 13th birthday has ended. If you turn 13 this month, wait until next month to accept the invite.
### What happens if I am under 13?
- No account is made. You see **Ask your parent or guardian to join the team for you.** You are still on your team's roster. Your coach is not emailed, so let them know. On the **Roster** tab your coach sees **Add parent** next to your name and can invite your parent or guardian from there.
- For a parent: ask the coach to send you a parent invite for your child. Once you accept it, you follow the team for your child. If your coach uses the team schedule and quizzes, you can see the schedule, answer your child's RSVPs and take your child's quizzes. ### I already have a Football Play Card account. Am I still asked?
- Yes, once, if you have never answered it. Select **Sign In** and sign in with the account the invite was sent to, choose your **Birth Month** and **Birth Year**, and select **Continue**. If you are 13 or older, select **Join Team**. If the answer is under 13, the account is deleted along with everything in it, and you see **Your Football Play Card account has been closed.** You stay on your teams' rosters without an account. If the account coaches or owns a team or pays for its own subscription, it is not deleted, and our support team will be in touch.
- Once you have answered and are 13 or older, later team invites add you straight to the team.
### What if I picked the wrong month or year?
- An under 13 answer cannot be changed from the invite link, and opening the link again shows the same message. Email **support@footballplaycard.com** with your team name and your coach's name, and we will sort it out. Your coach can also remove you from the roster and send you a new invite.
