What is Tag Matching?

Tag Matching fills a Game Planning call sheet section automatically using the tags on your plays. Instead of adding plays one by one, you choose which tags a section should match, and every play with those tags appears in the section. When you tag a new play later, it flows into the section on its own

Before you start: tag your plays

Tag Matching uses the tags already on your plays, so tag your plays first. Common situational tags include Red Zone, 3rd and Long, Goal Line, Two-Minute, Blitz Beater, and Short Yardage. You add tags from the play editor. For help, see How to Tag Your Plays. The more consistently you tag, the better Tag Matching works.

How do I add a section that uses Tag Matching?

1. Open your call sheet

2. Add a new section

3. Open the section settings

4. Choose the tags this section should match

5. Save the section

The section fills with every play that matches the tags you selected.

Match Any Tag vs Match All Tags

Each section has a "Match all tags" checkbox that controls how matching works.

• Match all tags OFF (any): a play appears if it has any one of the selected tags. Use this for a broad section. Example: selecting Red Zone and Goal Line includes plays tagged with either one.

• Match all tags ON (all): a play appears only if it has every selected tag. Use this for a precise section. Example: selecting Red Zone and Blitz Beater includes only plays tagged with both.

By default, a section matches all of the selected tags. Turn off Match all tags when you want to match any of the tags..

How Matching Updates Automatically

Because the section matches tags, you do not have to maintain it by hand. Tag a new play with a matching tag and it appears in the section. Remove a tag from a play and it drops out. This keeps your call sheet current as you build plays through the week. 

Example: Building a Red Zone Section

1. Tag your red zone plays with the Red Zone tag

2. On your call sheet, add a section named Red Zone

3. In the section settings, select the Red Zone tag

4. Leave Match all tags on so any Red Zone play is included

5. Save

Every play tagged Red Zone now appears in the section, and any new Red Zone play you tag will join it automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to tag my plays to use Tag Matching?

Yes. Tag Matching works from the tags on your plays. If a play is not tagged, it will not be matched. You can still add plays to a section manually.

What is the difference between Match all tags on and off?

On means a play needs every selected tag. Off means a play needs any one of the selected tags. Off is broader, on is more precise.

Can a play appear in more than one section?

Yes. If a play has tags that match more than one section, it appears in each matching section.

Why is a play not showing up in my section?

Check that the play has the tag you selected, and check whether Match all tags is on. If it is on, the play must have every selected tag to appear.
