How do I find an event's chat?
Every practice and game has its own thread.
Every event on your schedule has its own chat thread, so game-day details stay out of your season-long Team channel. Coaches post there, and once the event starts, invited players and families can add photos and clips on the website. Words from players and parents, such as "we are running late", go in the Team channel.
How do I open an event's chat?
-
Select Chat in the side menu.
-
Look under Event threads, below the channels. On a phone, this list is the first screen of Chat.
-
Select the event you want.
You can also open an event on the Schedule and go to its Discussion tab. It is the same thread either way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I not see last month's game?
-
The rail shows Upcoming events by default, so finished ones drop out of the way behind a line reading 2 closed events hidden. Select that line, or switch the filter to All, to see them again.
-
A repeating game has one row, for its next game. To open an earlier game's chat, open that game on the Schedule and go to its Discussion tab.
Who is in an event's chat?
-
Whoever was invited to that event can read it. That is separate from the team chat setting, so an event you only invited coaches and players to stays between them even if parents are in your team chat.
Who can post in an event's chat?
-
Coaches post anything. Players, parents and family read the thread. On the website, once the event starts, those invited can add a photo or video with a caption, but not text on its own. That is the same on every team rather than something you switch.
-
Anyone who wants to say something else posts it in the Team channel. Keeping written messages in a game thread to coaches means it stays a place for information on the day rather than a conversation about the game while it is happening.
Does a repeating event get a new chat each time?
-
A repeating game gets its own chat for each game. A repeating practice, meeting or tournament keeps one chat for the whole series, and the card for a change names the date it applies to.
What are the messages nobody wrote?
-
During a game, Football Play Card posts short lines into the game's chat as the scoreboard moves: the start, each score, halftime, the start of each quarter or half, each change of possession and the final score. It also posts when a live stream starts and ends. They look different from ordinary messages.
-
When a coach changes the event and chooses to tell the team, a card in the chat says what changed. A new event, a moved event or someone joining the roster is posted in the Team channel instead.
