How do I invite a follower?

You invite parents, family and fans to follow your team from the Followers tab in My Team. The invite asks for their follower type first, because that decides everything else they see.

Only the head coach can invite followers and change their type. The Followers tab comes with State Champion and above.

How do I invite a follower?

1. Select My Team.

2. Open the Followers tab.

3. Select + Invite Follower.

4. Choose their Follower type: Parent/Guardian, Family & Friend or Fan. The line under it says what that type sees.

5. Under Linked players, choose the player or players they follow. A Parent/Guardian and a Family & Friend need at least one. For a Fan it is optional.

6. Enter their First Name, Last Name and Email. Phone is optional.

7. Select Send Invite.

The follower must accept the invite with the email address you sent it to. If they want to use a different address, send the invite to that address instead. If that email already has a Football Play Card account, they get access straight away. See "Why can't I accept my invite with a different email address?"

How do I invite the parent of a player under 13?

Add the parent from the player, not from the Followers tab. Select Add parent on the player's roster row, enter the Parent Email and select Invite Parent. Or enter a Parent Email when you add the player. That invites the parent as a Parent/Guardian already linked to their child, on any plan. See "How do I add a player who is under 13?"

How do I change somebody's follower type later?

1. Open My Team, then Followers.

2. Open the menu at the end of the person's row. Change Follower Type appears once they have accepted. For somebody who has not, select Remove and invite them again with the right type.

3. Select Change Follower Type and choose the new type.

Moving somebody down takes access away straight away, so a Parent/Guardian moved to Fan loses the chat and your plays, and sees only games, with the venue and town.

Moving someone down always works. Moving someone up to Parent/Guardian or Family & Friend works only if they are already linked to a player. If they are not, select Remove on their row and invite them again with the new type and their player.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does it ask for the follower type first?

• Because the rest of the form depends on it. A Parent/Guardian and a Family & Friend must be linked to a player and a Fan does not, so the app asks that first.

Can one parent cover two children?

• Yes. When you invite them, choose every one of their children under Linked players, because you cannot add a player to a follower later. For a player under 13, use Add parent on that player's row with the same email. The Supports column on the Followers tab shows who each follower is linked to.

Do they need to pay?

• No. The people you invite never pay or need a subscription. Inviting followers needs a State Champion plan or above on your account.
