How do I turn chat notifications on or off?

Football Play Card sends notifications to your phone and tablet so a schedule change reaches your team without anyone having to open the app. Not every message notifies, on purpose.

How do I start getting them?

Notifications come from the Football Play Card mobile app, not from the website, so you need the app installed and signed in. See "How do I turn on push notifications on my phone?" for the full walkthrough, including what to do if you tapped "Don't allow" the first time.

How do I mute a team, or turn it back on?

Select Chat in the side menu and pick the team. On a phone, tap Team under Channels.
Select the bell at the top of the channel, Mute this team's announcements. The bell gets a line through it.
To turn them back on, select the bell again. It reads Team announcements muted. Turn them back on.

The mute belongs to your account, so it applies on every phone and tablet you are signed in on. Muting is per team, so if you follow two teams you can quiet one and keep the other. It stops that team's announcements only. Mentions, new quizzes and live game notifications still reach you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sends me a notification?

Announcements. When a coach turns on Announce and posts in the Team channel, everyone in the team chat gets a notification, apart from anyone who muted the team. If your group is not switched on in the team's Chat settings, you will not get them. A coach announcing that practice has moved is the case this was built for.
New quizzes. When a coach publishes a quiz, the players in it get a notification, or their Parent/Guardian if the player does not have an account.
Mentions. If somebody types @ and picks your name from the list, you get a notification.
Live games. When someone starts streaming a game, everyone who can watch it gets a notification, and again when the stream ends.

Ordinary messages do not send a notification. They show as an unread dot next to the channel or the event, and a count on the Chat item in the menu for the team you are on.

What happens when I tap a notification?

It opens the app on what it was about: the message, the quiz or the game. If the app is already open, a banner appears with View and Dismiss.

I am on more than one team. How do I know which one is busy?

The team switcher shows your total unread on its button. Open it to see the count for each team before you switch.
